The huge range of applications for this tool has given rise to many of its modifications. Some are good for installing drywall, others for assembling wooden structures, and others can do a little bit of everything.

Types and areas of application of screwdrivers
First of all, when choosing a screwdriver, you should decide what kind of work it will be used for. Depending on the purpose, several types of screwdrivers can be distinguished:

2. Household screwdrivers — designed to solve a wide range of problems. They have several torque adjustment stages, the presence of a quick-release chuck allows you to use not only bits, but also small drills.
The rotation speed is average, there is often a speed switch. Optimal for home use.
3. Professional universal screwdrivers — can also be used for different tasks and are similar in appearance to household ones. They are distinguished by a high maximum torque, several speed adjustment stages, long battery life and a high price.
They are used in finishing and construction work, for the installation of profiled sheets, assembly of metal structures.
4. Impact drivers — for working with metric fasteners, they are close in capabilities to impact wrenches — their impact is also directed not along the axis of the tool, but tangentially and is designed to increase the torque when tightening connections or, conversely, loosening «stuck» nuts and bolts.
Usually equipped with a chuck for a bit. The lack of torque adjustment and a specific operating mode reduce the versatility of the tool, but in repair shops and assembly shops such a screwdriver can be very useful.
5. Drill-drivers — can vary the rotation speed in a wide range — from hundreds of rpm for working with wood screws to several thousand rpm for drilling hard materials.
They have a quick-release chuck and several stages of torque adjustment; a large maximum torque allows you to drill holes in metal. Some drill-drivers have an impact function, which allows them to drill brick and concrete.
